I had a phone call last week from the main producer at Channel 4 who is in charge of the Crufts TV coverage and they have asked me to take part in a 15 minute documentary about my Dog Photography and The Dog Photographer of The Year competition run by The Kennel Club of Great Britain.
I have just got back from an amazing couple of days in Scotland photographing two group photo shoots.
The weather was not that kind and as typical at the moment it rained a lot!!, but that did not dampen the spirits at all and I managed to get some great photos
The first venue was Linlithgow Palace in Edinburgh, which is a popular place for me to use for photographs as its such a wonderful setting with a stunning back drop. There is also a wide choice of areas to photograph in and easy access to water which is great as water shots are one of the most popular shots I am asked to do by clients.
As a professional photographer I have to ensure that I maximise every single opportunity to capture that perfect image for my clients both private and commercial and that’s why its so important that I use the very best camera equipment on the market and that’s the reason why I currently use Canons new flagship full frame Digital SLR camera the Canon 1DX and with a price tag of over £5500.00 believe me it has to perform to the very highest quality, which it does with ease EVERY TIME!!
The most popular image requested by clients is the super fast action shot, wether it be a dog, horse or other animal at full speed doing what they love best.
To capture a shot like this in the highest image quality , ensuring that it is super sharp is not easy and that’s why having the best technology at your fingertips is crucial as you only get a couple of chances if that to get it right, there are no second chances.
The Canon 1DX fires an impressive 12 frames per second with the autofocus working throughout to ensure the image is as sharp as possible.
Last weekend i had the pleasure of taking my Dog Photography Course to Italy, thanks to Michele and Ilaria from SKADOG, who booked me for two days to teach their students about Dog Photography and how to get the best from your camera and your subjects.
Its the first time that I have taken my Dog Photography Course outside of the UK and it meant that I would be working with the assistance of an interpreter as my Italian is as good as my French, USELESS!!!!
